We Called 50 Business Lines at 10pm. Here's What Happened.
We ran a simple experiment: call 50 businesses after hours and see who picks up. The results explain why most companies are leaving money on the table every single night.

Most business owners assume their phone coverage is fine. The reality is that once the clock hits 6pm, the overwhelming majority of inbound calls go unanswered. We wanted to quantify it, so we ran a simple test: 50 calls to real businesses, all after hours, all from a fresh number.
The Setup
We called 50 businesses at exactly 10pm on a Tuesday. Plumbers, dentists, law firms, agencies, clinics, and service providers. We used a list of companies actively running paid ads, meaning they were literally paying to generate the calls we were about to place.
What Actually Happened
Of the 50 calls placed, only 3 reached a live person. The remaining 47 went to voicemail, an auto-attendant with no routing, or simply rang out. A handful had answering services that took a message and promised a callback that, in our follow-up, rarely came within 24 hours.
The Cost of That Gap
These are businesses paying between $30 and $200 per lead on paid channels. Every unanswered call is a lead they already paid for, now leaking out of the funnel. Across a month, the math is brutal. If just 15 after-hours calls per week go unanswered, and the average booked job is worth $800, that's roughly $50,000 per month walking away.
Why This Keeps Happening
Hiring a 24/7 receptionist costs more than most small businesses can justify. Answering services are slow and feel impersonal. Voicemail converts close to zero. So the gap stays open, and the calls keep leaking. The businesses that do answer, win the lead. Every time.
Pick Up Every Call, 24/7
AlloyVoice answers every inbound call on the first ring, qualifies the caller, and books the meeting. Nights, weekends, holidays, all of it. If you're running paid ads, you're already paying for these leads. Stop letting them leak out after hours. Book a demo and see what picking up every call does to your pipeline.
